What we do

State Ceramics is committed to preserving and advancing the art of studio ceramics through education, research, and cultural initiatives - study and appreciation.

Our primary objective is to support and help develop the literary canon of standard works in studio ceramics, which currently has a deficit compared to other areas of the arts.

Here, we look to support:

- Creation of archives such as oral histories

- Sourcing and digitising existing writing and research materials

- Publishable PhDs and post-doctoral fellowship work

- In-depth, scholarly research for makers’ monographs and other book or essay projects

- New voices in critical writing

Our ancillary objective is to encourage and facilitate public appreciation of studio ceramics through exhibitions, lectures, workshops and panel discussions.
